Premier League & Sere A title races rumble on
There is still everything to play for at the top and the bottom of the Premier League as we step into Matchday 35.
Liverpool's next challenge in their pursuit for the Premier League title is a resurgent Newcastle side who have won their last six games at home. Whilst it's likely to be a tough game for Jurgen Klopp's side, the Magpies have not won any of their previous 10 meetings with the Reds.
League leaders Manchester City travel to face a revived Leeds side who have picked up 11 points from their last 15 available. The Citizens won the reverse fixture 7-0 and will be looking to complete their first league double over the Elland Road club since the 1981-82 season.
In the race for Champions League qualification, Tottenham's recent dip in form has handed the initiative to their North London rivals Arsenal. This weekend, Antonio Conte's men host Leicester whilst the Gunners travel to West Ham.
Looking at those at risk of relegation, with Everton and Leeds facing tough opposition, Burnley will be hoping to capitalize on any dropped points with a win in their trip to 19th-placed Watford.
AC Milan are leading the Serie A title race but they face a tough test against Fiorentina this weekend. The Rossoneri will be looking to Zlatan Ibrahimovic to help them stay at the top of the table — the Swede has more Serie A goal involvements against La Viola than any other opponent.
Inter Milan dropped points in their midweek match against Bologna and now need a win in their trip to Udinese to keep the pressure up on their title rivals. It won't be easy — their opponents have scored four or more times in three of their last six outings.
Napoli were the third horse in the title race until they failed to win their last three outings. They now risk losing third place to Juventus should they fail to beat Sassuolo this weekend. Their opponents are equally out of form, having lost three of their last four.
Fourth-placed Juventus host rock-bottom Venezia knowing a win will all but seal their Champions League qualification. The Bianconeri have picked up more points in away fixtures than they have on home soil, however the visitors have lost each of their last eight games.
Real Madrid need just a point from their home tie against Espanyol on Saturday to secure their 35th LaLiga title. Los Blancos are unbeaten in 24 home league encounters with the Periquitos, winning 21 of those matches and keeping a clean sheet in the last six.
Barcelona head into facing Mallorca on the verge of suffering four straight home losses in all competitions for their first time in their history. The Catalans will be reassured by the fact that their opponents have only won on one of their last 11 LaLiga visits to the Camp Nou.
Sevilla and Atletico Madrid both have the chance to snatch second place should Barcelona drop points, with the former hosting Cadiz and the latter travelling to Athletic Bilbao.
Bayern secured yet another Bundesliga title last weekend and will be heading to Mainz in a jubilant mood.
Borussia Dortmund will be looking to clinch second place for the sixth time in 10 seasons when they welcome Bochum to Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund will be confident — only Bayern have scored more goals this season than BVB, whilst their opponents have lost four of their last six and failed to find the net in three successive outings.
The battle for Champions League qualification is still wide open, with third-placed Bayer Leverkusen and fifth-placed Freiburg separated by RB Leipzig and a total of just three points. Freiburg travel to Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen host Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig visit Borussia Mochengladbach.
At the bottom of the table, Arminia Bielefeld have the chance to climb into the relegation play-off spot by beating fellow strugglers Hertha Berlin. Hertha won 2-0 when they faced off in December and another victory will mean they cannot be relegated automatically.
