Tim Ferriss - 5-Bullet Friday — May 13, 2022

Hi All!
Here is your weekly dose of 5-Bullet Friday, a list of what I’m pondering and exploring.
What I’m watching
This short and mesmerizing video, thanks to Matt Mullenweg (@photomatt). Be sure to watch through the finale.
What I’m reading
“The Best Treatment for Insomnia Usually Isn’t a Pill” by Cyril Manning (UCSF Magazine), which includes the work of Jennifer Felder, PhD (@jenniferfelder), Aric Prather, PhD (@aricprather), and Andrew Krystal, MD. This article covers the interplay of insomnia and depression, CBT-I, as well as two associated apps. Both apps, though seemingly clinically effective, appear quite cumbersome to access. Have you found a nondrug sleep aid that has helped cure your insomnia? If so, please let me know @tferriss on Twitter with #sleep!
What I’m using with my dog
Slow-Feed Stainless Steel Bowl. My dear Molly pup has a lot of superpowers, but eating slowly is not one of them. Every two weeks or so, she’ll manically Hoover her food and puke it onto the floor a few minutes later. Not my favorite. This new bowl has totally fixed the problem. No one likes the scarf and barf! For some recent Molly photos that don’t involve barfing, click here and here.
Twitter features I’m learning more about
“The most powerful feature that Twitter has: Advanced search.” Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey (@jack) commented on this thread and said, “twitter search is my favorite feature (and undervalued).” Thanks to JZ for sending this to me.
Quote I’m pondering
“It seems to me that the real problem is the mind itself, and not the problem which the mind has created and tries to solve. If the mind is petty, small, narrow, limited, however great and complex the problem may be, the mind approaches that problem in terms of its own pettiness.”
— Jiddu Krishnamurti
And, as always, please give me feedback on Twitter. Which bullet above is your favorite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Please let me know. Just send a tweet to @tferriss and put #5BulletFriday at the end so I can find it.
Have a wonderful weekend, all.
Much love to you and yours,
Tim
P.S. Deal of the Week — Eight Sleep Pod Pro Cover!
Good sleep is one of the keys to unlocking your maximum potential. More than 30% of Americans struggle with sleep, and I’m a member of that sad group. Temperature is one of the main causes of poor sleep, and heat is my nemesis. I’ve suffered for decades, tossing and turning, throwing blankets off, pulling them back on, and repeating ad nauseam. Now, there’s a simple way to sleep at the perfect temperature, and it’s a device I use myself—the Pod Pro Cover by Eight Sleep. It pairs dynamic cooling and heating with biometric tracking to offer the most advanced (and user-friendly) solution on the market. I’ve been using it for more than a year. Add the Pod Pro Cover to your current mattress and start sleeping as cool as 55°F or as hot as 110°F. It also splits your bed in half, so your partner can choose a totally different temp. The technology adjusts the temperature of each side of the bed based on your sleep stages, biometrics, and bedroom temperature, reacting intelligently to create the optimal sleeping environment. The result: Eight Sleep users fall asleep up to 32% faster, reduce sleep interruptions by up to 40%, and get more restful sleep overall. Eight Sleep is offering subscribers to 5-Bullet Friday a very special and early Memorial Day offer to save $350 off(!) of the Pod Pro Cover. This offer is valid until 11:59 PM ET on May 22nd. Click here to claim this deal and unlock your full potential through optimal sleep.
