💻 Gadgets are back: Windows 11 is testing desktop widgets

Windows Vista and 7 had customizable widgets called Gadgets, which could be placed anywhere on your desktop. The feature was removed in Windows 8 because it was a security risk, but Microsoft is starting to experiment with desktop widgets again in the latest Windows 11 Dev Preview.

Microsoft has only made a single desktop widget available so far, but hopefully the company continues to work on it. At the very least, more options in the existing widget menu would be nice.
