Yesterday, I talked about how social media is not working like it did, even just 365 days ago.

Your emails tell me I AM NOT ALONE.

The way I see it, we have…

Two options:

1. Moan about it.

2. Get better at it.

I believe in ideas, so I choose option 2. Always.

“Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better.”

I am all-in on that quote.

But.

We are not living the dream.

We are on the treadmill.

And it’s getting faster.

Because.

Attention is getting scarcer.

Just look at your likes on Instagram.

We are all working longer just to stand still.

This IS NOT sustainable.

Because, what will you do next year?

Run even faster?

Know thy enemy.

Our opponent is BUSY.

And, it’s so clever, we even think BUSY is a good thing.

We celebrate it.

We wear it as a badge of honour.

Whoever did the PR job for BUSY, good job you folk.

Yet.

The thing that can save us is our ideas.

Yes, attention is getting scarcer.

But so are great ideas.

THAT’S HOW YOU CAN WIN.

BUSY keeps you from thinking.

Thinking is what you must do if you want to win.

Just think back to last week.

How much time did you spend on ideas?

Now, how much time did you spend on lesser goals?

Hmmm.

For example: How do we crack Instagram?

If you are building a brand, Instagram is one of the best platforms.

Hands down.

But how do you get attention when attention has gone/going away.

It’s simple, but almost no one does it:

Spend more time on ideas.

This was a piece of wisdom from Graham Fink, and it turned out to be seminal advice. (His online course will transform your business.)

The ‘Two Photo’ Meeting Changed Our Busy Culture.

Like everyone, we were seeing attention go away on Instagram.

And the team were falling into the busy trap.

So, Dylan came up with an idea.

The ‘Two Photo’ meeting.

How it works.

Everyone within the team shares a couple of ideas.

And everyone takes part.

So, our creative department becomes the whole team.

Because EVERYONE is creative, even if you work in finance.

It is only a twenty-minute meeting.

Yet, everyone is thinking of their ‘Two Photos’ all week long.

So, we spend more time on ideas.

Yay.

In the meeting, we choose our favourites.

Then we go and take the photos.

The first time we did the meeting, the raw energy told me everything.

It was our turning point.

Because here is our ugly truth.

We have been guilty of being BUSY, too.

Business is a master at doing that.

And yet…

Your customer doesn’t see how busy you are.

ONLY HOW CREATIVE YOU ARE.

If you want to get attention in this world, have better ideas.

Busy is a trap.
