Johanna Renoth - 📣 You Don't Have to Leave Socials 100%
Hi,
Johanna here from Bye, Social Media.
Today, I have one more thought about saying bye to social media in your marketing. And that is that it doesn't have to be an all or nothing game.
Let's Talk Strategy
The way I see it, there are two ways to re-define your relationship with social media in your marketing.
- You leave entirely.
- You keep a minimum presence and the functions you need-need.
You leave entirely
This is the 100%, cold turkey option. And it's totally doable. In fact, if this sounds scary to you right now, consider this thought for a moment: If your marketing is set up in a way right now, where if social media were down for a week or you were away and didn't have any content pre-scheduled in this mental exercise and that would mean trouble for your business, that's no bueno.
That's a lot of pressure to be under. And a lot of risk for your business.
Leaving entirely is an extension of the necessity to have other marketing channels and strategies in place aside from social. If your business can run without socials for a week, then what if it can for a month or two or three.
It's doable. If you're ready to walk away 100%, the most important thing is to know what your alternatives look like - i.e. you need a strategy - and start moving your audience to other communication channels early and bit by bit. What you don't want to do is pull out in a rush and lose people along the way who would have been happy to come with you.
You keep a minimum presence
This is a softer approach. You can use social media like a shop window here.
For example: You can set up a couple of evergreen posts that walk people through your work, where they can find you offline, and how to get in touch with you. Other than that, you don't update anything. You can also set up an automation for your DMs that tells people to reach out to you via email, if they have questions. That way, you also won't have to keep an eye out for messages or the like.
This is a good approach, if you want people to be able to tag you for podcast interviews or collabs. That way, you still manage to connect with audiences outside of your own and a solid link in bio linktree or the like can direct them to your services.
You've got your foot just in the door enough for it to support your funnel - AND you won't have to update anything.
Which approach speaks to you more?
Hit reply and let me know.
Sending glitter,
Johanna 💎
