Happy Monday!

Here's 5 great reads for this week:

  • 😳 Former WeWork CEO Adam Neumann’s is launching a token!  It is called Goddess Nature Token (GNT) with the goal to cut the middlemen out of the process by turning carbon credits into tokens. Neumann’s new company Flowcarbon raised $70M led by Andreessen Horowitz's new $4.5B crypto fund. With his reputation, this for sure will be crypto unicorn very soon.
  • 🛒 The IPO market may seem depressed, but not for M&A. Broadcom is buying VMware for $61 billion this week, becoming the second largest deal of this year. Other top deals so far this year include:
    • Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard for $69 billion
    • Elon to buy Twitter for $44 billion
    • AMD buys Xilinx $34.1 billion
    • Vista Equity Partners buys Citrix for $13 billion
  •  🇨🇳 Chinese tech companies are being squeezed from both sides. At home, they are forced into 'blood listings' in China at valuations lower than during private funding rounds. And In the US, the Republican Senators want to bar U.S. app stores (IOS and Android) from hosting apps that allow payments to be made with China's digital currency (DCEP). The move comes after WeChat (1.2 billion users)announced it would begin supporting DCEP.  The Chinese Embassy is calling this another example of the US bullying foreign companies by abusing state power on the untenable ground of national security.
  • 🤞 Founders community always trust founders more than venture capitalists. A quick poll by Anatoly.
  • 🍕 The first pizza bought by Bitcoin on May 22, 2010 is now worth about $300M.

This week a total of 18 startups raised $893.2M in fundingM&As:

  • $370M goes to 5 Enterprise startups
  • $91M goes to 2 HR startups
  • $5M goes to 1 Blockchain/Crypto startup
  • $150M goes to 1 eCommerce startup
  • $8M goes to 1 Retail Tech startup
  • $3.2M goes to 1 Gaming startup
  • $4M goes to 1 Real Estate startup
  • $125M goes to 1 Transportation startup
  • $40M goes to 2 Hardware startups
  • $12M goes to 1 Healthcare startup
