MicroConf - Top reasons to join a mastermind

Masterminds are an incredible resource that will help you reach new growth milestones, overcome obstacles, identify potential blind spots, and get extra accountability and support.  

Rob and the rest of the MicroConf team are strong believers that most entrepreneurs would benefit from being in a mastermind. 

Here are the three top benefits to joining a MicroConf peer mastermind: 
 

• GROWTH: By surrounding yourself with folks that can provide you with informed advice, qualified referrals, and critical constructive feedback on your failures in a safe space — you are just setting yourself up with both the resources and guidance you need to focus on growing your business.
   
• ACCOUNTABILITY: As so many solo-founders know, keeping yourself accountable and honest with no outside forces can be really challenging. By asking your mastermind to help you be accountable to your business, you’re also committing to holding them accountable.

That said, masterminds aren’t a magical cure-all for your business. Here are a few signs that a mastermind might NOT be the right fit for you: 
 

• You are looking to be matched up with founders who’s businesses are 3x, 5x, or 10x larger than yours. Masterminds work best, in our experience, when you are matched with like-minded peers, who all have businesses at a similar stage to yours. For example, if your business is pre-revenue, you’ll be matched up with other pre-revenue startup founders. 
   
• You are looking for a mentor, who has been where you are, to give you all the answers. In this case, you might want to hire a business coach instead. 
   
• You aren’t willing to put in the work on your business. We’ve seen firsthand amazing transformations that entrepreneurs have made thanks to their masterminds. However, you have to be willing to do the work. 
   
• You get defensive when someone gives you constructive feedback that goes against your beliefs about your business. One of the benefits of a mastermind is being able to spot potential blindspots and obstacles. However, you have to be willing to be open-minded and listen to others in your group.  
   
• You think it is okay to repeatedly no-show and ghost your mastermind. Things happen and missing the occasional call is one thing. However, repeat no-shows don’t just impact you, but it negatively impacts the entire mastermind.
