Polkadot Updates

🔴 ⭕️ Relay Chain

• Polkadot 0.9.23 has been released with LOW upgrade priority. 

• Parity has been working on a new UI for staking and it is finally ready for users to try out! Be aware that it is in beta phase for now.

• The latest Staking Update by Kian for May has been published, with some really interesting details. 

🔴 🏛 Governance

• Referendum 64, proposing to fund a Treasury Proposal to reimburse teams for funds spent at Davos, is currently passing with 91% (conviction-weighted) in favor. 

• Referendum 65, upgrading Polkadot to runtime v9220, has been passed and executed.

• Motions 209, 210, 211, 212, 213, and 214, seeking to fund various Polkadot Decoded events, were approved and executed.

• Motion 215 by EasyA, to execute a hackathon for students to raise awareness of the Polkadot ecosystem, was passed and executed.

• Motion 216, to fix the establishment of HRMP channels with Statemint, was passed and executed.

• Referendum 204, proposing to open an HRMP channel between Shiden and Statemine, has passed.

• Referendum 205, proposing to reset the Pichiu (Kylin canary) genesis state and runtime, has passed.

• Referendum 206, seeking to upgrade the Kusama relay chain to runtime v9230, has passed.

• A post on Polkassembly is seeking feedback for the Kreivo parachain to be onboarded as a common-good chain. 

• A post on Polkassembly is seeking feedback for the best way for Web3Alert to receive community funding for development.

• Multiple proposals are up for discussion seeking feedback on the organisation of Decoded 2022 on three continents

⛓ Connected Parachains, dApps, and others

• Arrington Capital and the Moonbeam Foundation launched a $100M growth fund for the Moonbeam ecosystem.

• Moonbeam was awarded a Web3 Foundation grant for the development of a custom parachain staking pallet. It also published a new ecosystem report.

• Compossable published Cubic: Composable’s modular DeFi vault pallet and Understanding Composable’s modularly interoperable infrastructure.

• KILT released a notable update to its docs with detailed explanations of some new concepts as well as tutorials. It also published Looking Forward — web3name.

• Integritee completed 2 key milestones towards decentralization. It also published a new ecosystem report.

• Litentry invites the community to join the pre-release of My Crypto Profile v2.0. It also published a new ecosystem report.

• Interlay (the decentralized Bitcoin ‘bridge’) is now live. Read this guide to learn how to claim your INTR if you contributed to the crowdloan.

• Crab/Darwinia Network integrates with governance platform SubSquare. It also published a new ecosystem report.

• Calamari and Moonriver are now connected.

• Equilibrium published a new ecosystem report.

• Acala will be sponsoring the CRADL Web3athon during Consensus 2022.

• Astar now offers AWS Activate to its builders and incubation programs. It also published Astar Innovation Hub Vision enabled by XCM — Part 1, The Astar Vision Part 2: Asset Diversity Through XCM dApps and Smart Contracts, and announced a partnership with Band Protocol.

• Subsocial published a new ecosystem report.

• Bifrost Finance published a new ecosystem report.

• Pendulum’s Spacewalk receives a Web3 Foundation grant to bridge Stellar and Polkadot.

🌎 Community & Ecosystem

• The Polkadot Hackathon (America edition) continued with a Crowdcast on building cross-chain dapps with XC-20s with Moonbeam. 

• Web3athon, a 3-month virtual hackathon for solving problems with blockchain technology, started on 9 June. 

• More details on Polkadot Decoded 2022 (29 - 30 June) have been released. Events will be held in Berlin, New York, Buenos Aires, and Hangzhou. 

• Polkadot founder Gavin Wood will be talking about “What is Web3” at the Collision conference on 21 June.

• Polkadot-JS Apps v0.116.1 has been released.

• Polkadot-JS Extension v0.44.1 has been released.

• Polkadot-JS API v8.7.1 has been released.
