The Continental/Analytic Divide

Continental philosophy follows Nietzsche, Heidegger, Foucault, and Derrida, while the analytic school adheres to Frege, Russell, Wittgenstein, and Quine. As this analysis of mentions in different journals shows, the publications of one school rarely covers the work of the other. Nietzsche, especially, seems to be mentioned very infrequently for "such a historically important figure!" (1,200 words)

Reading Ourselves To Death

Even as some mourn the demise of the book, we are ever more assaulted by text. The average internet user, it is estimated, can see almost half a million words in a day — more than is in War and Peace. Horrifying thought. Text is perfectly suited to the age of data, being searchable. All of these words "allow us to construct a simplified parallel reality alongside the unbearably ineffable one" (2,380 words)
