The involvement of Yuga Labs in Web3 is so wide that in this issue of Decentralized Arts we talk about them in two different articles without even focusing on their NFT collectibles.

As Kaf tells us, their Otherside has, in a very short time, become a reference among metaverses, proposing some peculiarities and novelties that have immediately become known to all.

Yuga Lab, as noted by Kouros, also invites everyone to exercise maximum attention to all the threats that surround the world of NFTs, protecting their value.

Among the collections "not yet NFT," we continue the exploration of the objects coming from the future of the Dusty Eye collective, moving between one wonder and the next of their Future Bazar.

Yuga Labs Warns About Threat to NFT Community

Last week Yuga Labs, better known for creating the Bored Apes Yacht Club and buying Crypto Punks, tweeted about a security concern for the NFT community.

According to the tweet, their security team is monitoring a group that is targeting the NFT community, and they believe that this group may be preparing a coordinated attack aimed at different groups.

Scams and attacks are common in the crypto world, and even seasoned users have fallen for these. Please stay vigilant, especially when clicking on links, connecting your wallets, or downloading files.

1 Million USDC Bid for Amazon.eth

Last week a user made a one million USDC offer to buy the amazon.eth ENS domain on OpenSea. However, the owner of the domain who bought it in February 2022 for 33 ETH (~35,000 USD) has ignored the bid, and the offer has since expired.

Bored Ape Yacht Club Launches Its Metaverse

It seems that everything Yuga Labs touches turns to gold. The company founded in 2021 owns some of the most successful collections in the entire NFT market, such as Bored Ape Yacht Club, Crypto Punks, Mutant Apes, and Meebits. The Miami-based company has a 4 billion USD valuation and in April raised 450 million USD to create its metaverse, Otherside.

As seen on Twitter last week, the launch of Otherside has created quite a stir. In addition, the Ape Coin token has increased its value by 50% in just two weeks. There is no doubt that the most famous monkeys will continue to cause trouble!

Otherside Metaverse is a Success!

When they released the trailer, the entire NFT space was struck by FOMO. The animation is simply amazing, but the fact that it’s coming from Bored Ape Yacht Club gives it weight.

Now, what is Otherside? According to their litepaper, “Otherside is a world-building platform that provides an exciting environment to play, create, compete, connect, and explore together. Initially, users will experience Otherside through a narrative game experience (also known as The Voyager's Journey) co-developed by Yuga Labs and Improbable and based on technology by M².”

Three months after the announcement, 4,500 people have been able to test the MMORPG demo simultaneously. The gameplay looks amazing!

An immersive play area was created just for this demo. Thousands of users were able to interact simultaneously in the same space, all through a Chrome web browser, and featured real-time with realistic voice chat and spatial audio built to handle large crowds. As the name suggests, this demo is designed to showcase the technical capabilities of the Otherside platform. The content of the litepaper will grow and change over time as the community provides input and helps build Otherside.

To enter Otherside, you must have an Otherdeed NFT. Otherdeed for Otherside is a collection of 200k NFTs representing land in the Otherside metaverse, of which 100k were airdropped or sold on April 30th: 10k went to BAYC holders, 20k to Mutant Ape holders, 15k to developers, and 55k sold for 305 APE. They currently have a floor price of 2.6 ETH on Opensea. If you want to better understand how the collection works, this video will help.

Special Mention to Improbable

One of the most respected members within the NFT community is DCLBlogger, creator of The Metakey. In this thread, he highlights Improbable, a UK metaverse technology company that helps partners create virtual worlds, and the initiator of M². Since 2012, Improbable has been taking steps to become a giant and create one of the most impressive metaverses.

What's Next?

It is difficult to compete with gaming giants such as FIFA or Call Of Duty, but imagine, for a moment, owning a plot of land in a game such as Fornite where you can build your house and invite your crew, complete with a unique and customizable avatar. Yuga Labs is showing us what video games may be like in the future!

When we talk about the metaverse, we imagine a single virtual world that will compete with real life. That is very far from being true. However, different metaverses are being created, such as Decentraland and Sandbox, and now Otherside is joining the fray. Mass adoption is not far behind, and will come when people acquire the necessary education to participate.
