• Tuesday, five states are holding midterm primary elections that test Donald Trump’s influence on the Republican Party. [New York Times / Jonathan Weisman]
• In the Arizona GOP governor’s race, Trump-backed Kari Lake, who built her campaign making election fraud allegations, faces Karrin Taylor Robson, who former Vice President Mike Pence endorsed. [CNN / Gregory Krieg, Eric Bradner, and Dan Merica]
• In the Senate race, the two Republican frontrunners competing to face Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) both deny the 2020 election results. [The Hill / Julia Manchester]
• Three Republicans who voted to impeach Trump are on the ballot. In Washington state, Reps. Jaime Herrera Beutler and Dan Newhouse face strong challengers. In Michigan, Rep. • Scandal-ridden former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens is trying to make a political comeback against state Attorney General Eric Schmitt for a Missouri Senate seat. Nancy Pelosi arrives in Taiwan 

• House Speaker Nancy Pelosi arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday amid threats of retaliation from Beijing. [Associated Press / Huizhong Wu and Eileen Ng]
• Within minutes of Pelosi’s arrival, China accused her of violating the "one China" policy; Beijing considers the self-governing island a part of China. [USA Today / Dylan Wells and Michael Collins]
• In a statement, Pelosi said she made the trip to show American solidarity with democracy and the people of Taiwan. Pelosi is the highest ranking US official in 25 years to visit Taiwan. [NYT / Paul Mozur, Amy Chang Chien, and Michael D. Shear]
