What a week in Web3! Going bankless never looked so good. If you have been wondering where BanklessDAO’s mission sits within the broader ecosystem, you must now surely realize the importance of the educational and media resources we produce. As governments exert their power and corporations tighten their control, bDAO will continue to provide people with opportunities to learn about and access decentralized finance.

The Grants Committee has released Season 5 guild funding, but project funds are delayed due to a bug in parcel.money. This is being addressed and the funds should be disbursed soon. In the meantime, Grants Committee will contact each Project Champion about setting appropriate KPIs, as we look to gain greater clarity on how efficiently we’re managing our treasury and how effectively our projects are operating.

After several rounds of conversations between bDAO and Gitcoin, it seems our best option for involvement in Gitcoin Grants is to put in a shared BanklessDAO projects proposal. With the next Gitcoin Grants round starting September 7, stay tuned for details.

The first ETH event in Africa is drawing close. ETHSafari promises to bring positive vibes to all of crypto. It is going to be a week centered on learning and celebrating a decentralized and sovereign future for Africa.

Fight Club Punches Above Its Weight

Access to early-stage investments often is limited to venture capitalists (VC) due to the exclusive nature of VC networks. The Bankless Fight Club is a sub-DAO of BanklessDAO whose mission is to democratize access to the VC deal flow and enable economic sovereignty.

Fight Club includes a platform of venture DAOs, educational programs for venture analysts of diverse backgrounds, and apprenticeships that bring financial tools to the unbanked.

In the effort to democratize deal flow, Fight Club allows its members to bring investment proposals to the DAO, where investing members will subsequently vote on them. The money used to fund these projects comes from a pool of capital called the “Genesis Fund”, set aside to support Web3 projects across the cryptoverse.

Fight Club Perks

Fight Club (FC) is perfect for investors of all levels. If you’re a seasoned veteran, you’ll love the access to FC’s gated Discord channels, research calls with VC analysts, and monthly networking calls with VCs, advisors, and founders.

NFT owners new to crypto’s venture capital ecosystem will benefit from Fight Club’s educational program. The program teaches new entrants to crypto venture capital how to become a crypto analyst via lectures, mentorships, and internships.

Owning a Fight Club NFT gives you:

• Access to the FC Discord server

• Access to educational programs provided by Fight Club

• Governance votes over FC operations and Treasury

• Access to IRL events

• Eligibility to participate in FC ventureDAOs (subject to ventureDAO accreditation criteria)

The education program consists of a series of webinars on venture capital processes, due diligence, and investment within the Web3 space. Completion of this series of webinars makes you eligible to participate in FC’s investment research process and become a junior analyst, where analysts can be promoted to managers based on performance on deals and the judgment of their managers.

Governance

Additionally, all NFT holders will have governance rights. Fight Club is governed via the membership NFTs (The Gloves). Currently, there are three tiers of NFTs, and which one you hold determines how much weight your vote carries. The membership tiers as of April 5, 2022 are:

Each NFT has a weighted governance vote over the operations and treasury of Fight Club.  Currently, the governance vote is split 50/50 between FCGG and FCRG holders, but there’s a proposal in progress to determine the governance weight of FCBG holders. Additionally, in pursuit of a more equitable governance mechanism, FC is developing a structure that uses each member’s contribution history to help determine the weight of their governance vote.

The Black Glove Mint

Many bDAO members will likely remember the Red Glove announcement, where we gave bDAO members priority for exclusive access to Fight Club’s perks. But now, Fight Club is ready to open its services to the world.

Fight Club’s long-awaited public mint will be on September 1, 2022!

There will be 1,000 NFTs minted on the Polygon network, each priced at $650 equivalent in MATIC. Right now, Fight Club is allowing a maximum of 500 people to sign up for the allow-list, which will grant those people the ability to mint for $600 equivalent in MATIC. The allow-list deadline is August 28, 2022, so sign up quickly!

Keep your eyes out for a Tokenomics - L2 Liquidity Deepening Snapshot. It’s currently live, but the Snapshot Strategy needs fixing. So while you can’t vote at the time of publication, expect to be able to do so soon. Read the Forum proposal to get up to speed on migrating DAO-owned liquidity to Polygon.

🔍 Crypto Nomad Research Proposal

The Legal Guild would like to spin up a research project aimed at Crypto DAO Nomads/Wannabe Digital Nomads. The research will involve contribution mainly from members of the Legal Guild, as well as some services from designers and editors. The total ask to execute this project is 99,999 BANK and the final deliverable is a report that can be minted by NomadPunk NFT holders.

🪴 BanklessDAO x Regens Unite (Berlin)

Regens Unite Berlin is planning to host an event that runs parallel to ETHBerlin from September 16-17, and the team is asking for support from BanklessDAO. There are also two other events happening in the lead up to ETHBerlin: Dappcon September 12-14, and Re:Generate September 15, providing a week-long opportunity to reach a broad range of people and break out of the silo we usually work within.

⁉️ Bringing BanklessDAO AMAs to the Next Level

WildFireDAO has tabled a proposal to deliver weekly AMAs with high-profile projects such as ENS, Gitcoin, Aave, and many more. Building connections with more widely recognized projects outside of bDAO would help build our brand profile. The first season of funding is intended as a trial run and sponsorships would not be pursued until an audience has been built, but in future seasons a share of sponsor revenue would be returned to bDAO in exchange for each seasonal grant.

🗒️ BanklessDAO x List of DAOs Collaboration

List of DAOs wants to bring greater awareness to all DAOs in the Web3 community. Using a decentralized tool to collaborate on building a one-stop-shop resource called Decentra-List, the goal is to crowdsource a directory of 1,400 DAOs. Other lists have the drawback of having a moderate-to-high bar of entry, making it difficult for smaller DAOs in the ecosystem to be discovered. Currently the list has collected more than 200 DAOs.

🔔 bDAO Contributor Recognition Program (ThriveCoin Pilot)

This is a pilot proposal to use the ThriveCoin 3 platform to recognize and reward BanklessDAO contributors. Contributors who wish to participate will be able to connect their wallet to the ThriveCoin platform and be rewarded in THRIVE tokens for bDAO Snapshot contributions, bDAO Discord activity, and bDAO Twitter engagement. ThriveCoin will provide all required setup. There is no cost to bDAO.

🌱 BanklessDAO Gitcoin Grants Proposal

Please expect an update to this proposal. Based on the discussions with Gitcoin so far, the best course of action is to go ahead with a collaborative BanklessDAO projects proposal.

🦦 bDAO Season Role Holder Badges (Otterspace Pilot)

This is a pilot proposal to generate seasonal badges for BanklessDAO role holders using the Otterspace protocol. This would include all Guild Coordinators and Project Champions who would then be permitted to issue other role badges required within their groups. Doing so will make our org structure visible on chain, create a more holistic representation of membership, create data for future reputations systems, and aid the community in communication. The proposal is a low-risk way to increase our resiliency, transparency, and reputation mechanics.

🚌 GM Bus and Green Pill Trailer — Season 1

The GM Bus is focused on collaboration, cross ecosystem coordination, and engaging with IRL communities to spread adoption of DAOs. With interests in spreading the gm vibes and improving the crypto narrative, BanklessDAO is invited to join in a Media Partnership with the GM Bus. They are also requesting BANK to compensate the squad.
