+82% to 5-star ratings (cool easy study)

CallApp's ratings on Google Play decreased to 4.17 - they lost their positions and organic traffic.

After they changed one thing, their positive ratings increased by 82%.

After analyzing data they found that some people leave positive feedback but give a 1-star rank.
Turns out not all people understand that 5 stars is the highest rank.

Here's what they did.

1. Originally they asked people to rate their app in a popup saying:
Title: Love us
Subtitle: Please don't forget to rate the app.
CTAs: Cancel | OK

2. Then they changed their wording to:
Title: Love CallApp?
Subtitle: Rate us 5-Stars to help make CallApp even more awesome. Thanks!
CTAs: No thanks | 5 stars
On top of that, they added an image of 5 blue stars.
Result: +40% improvement in 5-star ratings.

3. Then they updated their image from blue stars to yellow stars.
Result: +82% improvement in 5-star ratings.



This approach can be applied to any type of ratings on any marketplace.
I've just applied this trick to my blog posts.
