Happy September! The second-best month, IMHO, right after October. 🍁 Like clockwork, now that Labor Day is over, PSLs are back, and the temps are teasing sweater weather, I can’t resist that back-to-school itch. This time of year makes me want to buy a new notebook, recommit to habits, and set a new goal or two — including for my finances.

Have you made any payments on your federal student loans since they’ve been paused (aka since March 2020, aka the start of the pandemic)? Did you know you can request a 100% refund for those payments? You might want to do that before you apply to get your loans canceled, especially if your current balance is less than the max benefit of $10K ($20K for Pell grants). Or, you know, if you just … really need that $.
