Queen Elizabeth II was a woman of distinction, the matriarch of one of the world’s most powerful families, and the longest-reigning British monarch ever, having held the throne for seven decades. She was also a 96-year-old lady who occasionally, like any other nonagenarian, could simply not be bothered.

There is an undeniable charm in an extremely unrelatable woman, someone whose life was imbued with the trappings of wealth, acting kind of regular — petty, even. To that end, here is an ode to a few of the times her royal highness acted like anything but.

What decade is it again? The aughts revival shows no signs of stopping: Santigold just released a new album, French indie pop group Phoenix are returning to the scene in November, and Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs teased new tunes at a J. Crew party during New York Fashion Week. Meanwhile, HBO made a visual-effects error on their Game of Thrones spinoff series, House of the Dragon — and t’s not the first time an anachronistic mistake has been made in Westeros. A few British brands are canceling their London Fashion Week shows in honor of the late Queen Elizabeth II, but some are wondering if smaller designers may be negatively impacted by the decision. And finally, will the real cinema fans please … not stand up? The standing ovation situation at film festivals is getting a little out of hand, as evidenced by the 14-minute-long standing O for Ana de Armas’s polarizing turn as Marilyn Monroe in Blonde.
