If you would like a tarot or astrology reading, get in touch with me at enneagramastrologytarot@gmail.com. Follow me on Medium as well! The Queen of Cups is sensitive, nurturing, caring, compassionate, and intuitive. When you see this card, it represents these traits in you or someone you know. In addition, the card depicts someone who is also a good listener and will be there for you to support you no matter what, and has maternal energy. Therefore, if this card comes up, it shows that either you have a strongly sympathetic or empathetic side or it is someone in your life. And you want the Queen of Cups type in your life, especially when facing some challenges. The Queen also is indicative of someone who can tune into others on an intuitive level. This court card also depicts someone who is also creative, as the Cups suit represents creativity. Those who sense this quality in anyone will also have an easy time coming to them and confiding in them, knowing they will not be judged and will be supported instead. Let’s firstly go over the Queen of Cups' appearance and history. Queen of Cups History And AppearanceThe Queen of Cups is a popular figure in tarot decks, often appearing as a wise and compassionate woman. She is said to represent the ideal mother or queen, and her archetype is often associated with empathy, intuition, and creativity in all decks. The Queen of Cups first appeared in medieval Europe, where she was often depicted as a beautiful queen or goddess. Over time, she came to be associated with the ancient Egyptian queen Cleopatra, renowned for her beauty and wisdom. In some decks, the Queen of Cups is called the Queen of Hearts. Today, the Queen of Cups remains a famous tarot card, and she is often interpreted as a symbol of feminine power, intuition, and kindness. Looking at the Queen of Cups from the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, you will see the image of her sitting on her throne. It is near the sea. She has a chalice in her hands as the chalice's handles have a wing-like shape. The cup cards in the suit have it open, but in this case, it is closed. That represents her thoughts and feelings as they are not conscious. They all stem from the soul and the subconscious. The throne has images of scallop shells, fish, and anything to do with the sea. The fish is the subconscious, and the water is the emotion. You see that her feet are on the shore with different colors of pebbles. She connects to her emotions but does not allow them to overwhelm her. Now, let's talk about what the Queen of Cups means in a reading. Queen of Cups In A ReadingThe Queen of Cups is often seen as a symbol of intuition and emotion. When she appears in a reading, it can indicate that you are in touch with your feelings and can read others well. If you are facing a difficult decision, the Queen of Cups can advise you to trust your heart and follow your intuition. Getting the Queen of Cups in a reading usually signifies that you are in touch with your emotions and can express them well. You may be creative and intuitive and strongly connect to the spiritual realm. You may be going through a period of emotional processing or working on improving your relationships. The Queen of Cups is a positive card that indicates you are on the right track. Trust your intuition and follow your heart. The Queen of Cups is compassionate, warm, supportive, and intuitive; as you already know, this is the water suit. She has a lot of traits that are similar to the Empress. She has a strong, nurturing side and wants to help others find their own spiritual and intuitive sides. She is someone who wants to help you. You can imagine a down-to-earth and truly caring counselor or coach as the Queen of Cups. A legitimate caring astrologer or tarot reader would fit this archetype as well. Queen of Cups ReversedThe Queen of Cups, in reverse, is indicative of a personality trait that is self-centered and codependent. But sometimes, the meaning is not harmful as it can simply represent getting self-care as well, which is what everyone needs to do. It all depends on the spread. You cannot pour from an empty cup. But the Queen in reverse can also represent the opposite of that. When the Queen of Cups is in reverse, you can also think of someone who is too giving, does not have boundaries, suffers from martyrdom, or is highly dependent. She would be fragile. You can imagine that one aunt who never got married is always expected to care for your ailing grandmother as she consistently puts her needs on the back burner. She would not know how to stand up for herself, either. Now, let’s talk about how to apply the Queen of Cups in your life. How To Apply The Queen of Cups To Your LifeThe best way to incorporate the Queen of Cups into your life is when you are upset and stressed; take the Queen as a reminder of how you need to vent your feelings to those who will listen and not invalidate you by hurling toxic positivity or toxic spirituality at you. For example, you can reach out to support groups that are there to help you with any particular struggle you face. It does not matter what it is, but the Queen reminds you that you are not alone in your struggles, even if you feel like you are. The Queen of Cups also reminds you that you need to care for yourself first before caring for everyone else. Therefore, what was something you did to indulge in some much-needed self-care lately? Are you taking care of everyone else while struggling to pour from an empty cup? The Queen of Cups reminds you that you cannot do that, and it is time to stop. Your needs matter, and your struggles and feelings are valid. Next time I will go over the King of Cups, and then I will begin the series for the last suit, the Pentacles suit.
