This Sweater Is My Fall Hero Piece & I’ll Be Wearing It Nonstop

It’s difficult to capture the full essence of fall in a big city, but the showgoers at New York Fashion Week, and most recently at London Fashion Week as well, are certainly showing up for the task. The days of full-body sweat under your sundress as you trek to and from appointments and events are waning, replaced by sharp blazers, wide leg trousers, and the season’s latest boot trend. Everything feels fresh and exciting, because not only is the weather turning crisp and comfortable, but the fashion calendar is introducing dozens of swoon-worthy new looks to our sartorial wish list.

Personally, I’ve always found dressing for warm weather challenging. How can I capture a complete vibe with just a few pieces? I’m much more excited about the prospect of layering sweaters and coats with everything from dresses, trousers, and if I’m feeling brave, the burgeoning tights trend (Kerry Washington at the Emmys has me convinced they’re a luxe choice for evening). So while the last few weeks (or days, potentially) of scorching temps give way to fall, I’ll be here, eagerly adding a few choice autumn essentials to my cart.
