Welcome to the 327 new subscribers joined this week. Quick updates on our Micro SaaS HQ
If you are on Product Hunt, show us some support here. https://www.producthunt.com/posts/micro-saas-hq No fluffy content. If your goal is to build a $100m ARR business, this is not the right post. Here I am are NOT going to talk about building the next Facebook or Twitter. If your goal is to make a $1K to $10K MRR, continue reading. This post will cover one SAAS area and talk about multiple niches in this space. This post also explains how to do tech implementation, do market analysis, how the current players are doing, and ends with a cost analysis to understand the overall cost for 100 users. Creating solutions by integrating with other platforms is one of the fastest ways to get traction because of the existing audience of those platforms. Let’s see some of the startups in this niche working on integrations to other platforms. DataFetcher: Import data from anywhere to Airtable. Negative Nancy says - “People could very well use Zapier, Integromat, etc. that can do a lot of things. Why do they need new integration tools?” Me - Not everyone likes complex tools that can do zillion things. Most people need a simpler tool as long as it fits their needs. For example, DataFetcher that automates importing data into Airtable makes $6K MRR. It doesn’t automate a lot of tools but just automates data importing to Airtable. Negative Nancy says - “This involves platform risk as this involves heavily relying on one platform” Me: There is a platform risk because there is a platform. Having a platform means “finding users more easily”. Picking one platform and niching down will help you get better traction and faster growth when you are just starting. Deep-dive & Some niches Concentrating on a single platform gives more traction than concentrating and building for multiple platforms. If the Micro SaaS works, you can still build for more platforms once you gain initial traction with one platform. For example, if you work on creating an integration for Airtable, stick with it until you get your first paying users and get traction. Once you have enough users, double down and add more integrations to the product. Integrations with Payments/Billing Tools - Dashboards on top of Billing/Subscription data: While there are tools for general dashboards, there is a need for billing/subscription-specific tools that can create and show the billing/subscription data. Make things as easy as possible for the user. Integrate multiple payment providers like Stripe, Paddle, PayPal, Gumroad, etc, and connect this data to user data to display required data for businesses. This correlated data (from payment providers to user data in the database) will help the founder understand the churn, average revenue per customer, profit per user, cost of operations, etc. The key here is to add multiple payment providers and payment processors like Stripe, Paddle, PayPal, Gumroad, Recurly, ChargeBee, Google Play Payments, Apple Appstore payments, Shopify payments, etc. As an add-on integrate this with email campaign data and also show the average CTR and open rate for the emails. Along with this, you can also show Analytics data by integrating with Google Analytics, Fathom Analytics, Plausible Analytics, etc. Integrations with Google Sheets - Access Google Sheet data with APIs: While most people want to use Google sheets as their code database, it is often a challenge to read and update data using Google sheets API. A micro saas tool that gives an API wrapper on top of Google sheets is a great fit for founders/users who want to use sheets as their database. Your tool should just let people authorize their Google sheets using OAuth2 and then should give a simple API to read and write data into Google sheets. This removes the nuances of using Google APIs which are usually tougher to implement for most users. Integrations with Notion - Data sync between Notion and other platforms like Google sheets/Airtable/Forms: This is about building a simple sync application that takes the data from Google sheets/Airtable/Stripe or from anywhere and adds it to a Notion document/table. We are talking something in lines of Zapier but primarily built around Notion. (This needs API access unless you want to build using any unofficial APIs). See Notion-Automations for inspiration. In 4 years, Notion grew to 6 million users with a valuation of $2 billion. This is one of the fastest-growing niches currently. There are a bunch of startups coming around the Notion ecosystem - by building extra add-ons and capabilities on top of Notion. Integrations with WordPress - WordPress CMS Data Import and Export and integration with Cloud providers and other platforms: WordPress CMS is a heavily used CMS solution. But people often want to export and import the data around WordPress for various reasons. This could be because someone wants to sync their data with other systems or want to build data in an external system and wants to import that into CMS. This is one of the biggest requirements for most WordPress site owners and doing this at scale to handle thousands of rows export/import is important. The solution can also have an Add-On to backup WordPress sites by exporting the CMS to the cloud (AWS S3 or GCP). Another add-ons could be to automate the import and export process for source and target. Site owners should be able to create sources and targets and import/export as needed. Some examples of external systems are Google Sheets, AWS S3, etc. Integrations with Shopify - Automate marketing/sales with SMS, Whatsapp, Telegram, and FB communication: Create a Micro-SaaS tool that helps with automation of marketing and sales using Whatsapp/SMS/Telegram communication. Compared to email communication, this communication is more effective and costlier too. To start with, you can use Twilio SMS APIs to send text messages (SMS). Twilio also provided WhatsApp APIs. Telegram already has inbuilt APIs that can be extended to connect to Telegram users. Make sure to check Twilio pricing before you build an App. To save Twilio charges, you can also leverage Whatsapp Business API directly to provide integration with Shopify. If you need more ideas in Shopify, start your search here in the app store and see the integration-related apps. You can either pick an existing app and improve the idea or pick a new one. But make sure you read through the reviews and understand the user behavior of Shopify buyers. Integrations with Slack - Get stats to Slack: Business founders want to get a summary of various stats every day. This could be stats coming from Analytics, Sales data, Twitter, or from any system. Building a Slack app around this will help many founders to get the stats every day at a given time from various systems. This could be summaries like “12 purchases made in last 24 hours. 3 cancellations” or “247 visitors visited the website” or something similar to that. Integrating this with customers' CRM and marketing tools would save a lot of time for the founders. Add-on can be provided to get this summary for every X number of hours.: Slack has more than 2000 apps built on top of it. Some of these are making more than $100K ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue). Integrations with Domain Name Providers - Single dashboard for domain management: Most people have multiple domains purchased from multiple vendors. Create a Micro-SaaS tool that lets users connect to multiple DNS providers like GoDaddy, NameCheap, Google Domains, AWS Route53, etc, and fetches all data from various vendors, and displays it in a single dashboard. The tool should not only display the data but should also let manage multiple domains all one place by performing DNS changes, making payments, etc as well. For people with hundreds of domains, it is often not easy to handle and maintain all domains as logging into multiple platforms takes a lot of time and is a messy process. A unified dashboard around this will help many founders have multiple domains from multiple vendors. Make sure you go through the API docs of various providers - GoDaddy APIs, NameCheap APIs, AWS Route53 APIs. Most of these providers have sandbox environments as well to play around with the APIs before building the actual product. 🔒 👉 [Get access to 800+ additional ideas and more additional ideas in this niche and across all niches from Pro version with data points, revenue information].
