'It's Been Two Years Since My Breakup, and I'm Still Not Over It'

It’s been almost two years since the Breakup™, and I still think about my ex every day. I’ve done all of the things. I volunteer. I make art. I thrive in my job. After the first six months, I reentered the dating world. But now I’ve become the avoidant one. I’ve broken off every developing fling that I have experienced since the Breakup.

I know I won’t be able to create something beautiful with someone new until I let this relationship go. But if I let this relationship go, it’s gone forever. Is there anything more disturbing than the knowledge that some things are over permanently? Can you help me make sense of this?
