UNDRGRND DIGS is a periodical feature showcasing artists that the UNDRGRND curators dig. We sift through the social media and NFT platforms to find the best artists waiting to be discovered. UNDRGRND believes in the artists we feature and we will purchase NFTs from each artist featured.

Kaspar

Kaspar doesn’t care what you think, or about anything, maybe. Without speaking with them it seems Kaspar doesn’t care if their work sells, doesn’t care if they over mint, over price, if it hurts your old eyes, or if you like it. Kaspar appears to be creating in a vacuum based on a set of rules that adhere to the chaos his art implies. Why is a 1/1 piece priced at 72,000 XTZ and another at 50 XTZ while a mint of 1000 is priced at 100 XTZ? Is it a sound investment? Probably not. Your only choice is to succumb to the will of Kaspar or to move on and put it out of your mind, which will be nearly impossible. Either way, Kaspar will keep doing their thing whether you buy it or not.

Brokoola

An oversimplification would refer to these pieces as digital black light posters, but to brush past without exploring would be a mistake and miss the point of Brookla’s work: the key to the infinite comes from within. In a variety of portraits, Brokoola explores a higher self through inner reflection. The vivid neon colors match the emotional honesty in each piece, insinuating our true colors come from inside us all. It should be no surprise that Brokoola’s work Inner Pain, is in black and white, indicating that when we’re in pain our light dims.

Artefect

Artefect’s beautiful ink drawings of intricate detail have started to gain the attention of the premier platforms like SuperRare. Their work in illnesses depicts afflictions mostly unseen: Insomnia, Paranoia. Much of their work involves beautifully drawn moments in the life cycle from birth to death, and in between, we experience hardships. The use of butterflies and the female form throughout softens the harsh realities of life we must all face.

Formless

We need to talk about Formless. It’s vile, disgusting, traumatizing, depraved, revolting, vulgar, even pornographic, and really, really f-ing good. Not sure who hurt this artist but they are working through some stuff and subjecting us all to the process. The 3D grotesque scenes of mutilation weren’t enough for Formless though: they’re now making interactive NFTs. Thankfully, they are drawn in the MS Paint style to soften the shock but still will make you want to take a shower afterward and visit the eye-flushing station they use for chemical exposures. Formless is one of a kind. Let’s keep it that way.

Tomba Animation

For a palette cleanser, Tomba, a stop-motion clay being. These short clips are a labor of love. The simpler the joke, the more fun these become. A fifteen second video could take a week to create assuming everything goes right. If artists are supposed to charge for the time it takes to create stop-motion art is woefully underpriced for the amount of work needed. Hopefully, we can see a resurgence of hand-crafted art such as this thanks to the expansion of NFTs.
