Today’s edition is brought to you by Trends, a weekly newsletter of emerging business ideas to spark your next startup. Trends has a team of business analysts studying launches and fundraises so you don’t have to. Sign up now to make an informed leap to your next big thing: Good morning. Today we’re listening to the Brendan Eder Ensemble, a project from LA-based drummer and composer Brendan Eder. Since graduating from Santa Fe University of Art & Design in 2009, Eder has published a lot of music across film scores and original works.¹ As Brendan Eder Ensemble – a “crossover classical chamber group”² – he makes mellow, jazzy instrumental vignettes that are composed like micro scores. That’s the style of the “cozy concept album”³ Cape Cod Cottage from 2021, which calls to mind Ender’s fellow Angelino John Carroll Kirby. We’re also playing the Ensemble’s self-titled 2015 debut LP, which is a bit more lively. Cape Cod Cottage - Brendan Eder Ensemble (40m, no vocals) Brendan Eder Ensemble - Brendan Eder Ensemble (30m, no vocals) Have a really nice Wednesday. 1 Eder composed the score for director Ari Aster’s breakout short film The Strange Thing About the Johnsons. 2 via the artist’s website 3 via Bandcamp |
