And so we reach the end of another beautiful week with you. It’s the end of our inaugural How to Be Funny week, and we finally have an answer. There has been only one funny person ever in history and it is Rodney Dangerfield. Thank you to comediennes Broti Gupta and Dylan Gelula for helping us find that answer. . So now we have moved on to finding the best Advent calendar for our best friend: a dog. Twenty-five days of treats for old Fido? They deserve the best. Red Rover, Red Rover, let the three wise men come over? It’s just the beginning of the new world we hold in our hearts. The world where someone tells you to put on your favorite holiday movie and you queue up the Zapruder film. Yes, because for this holiday season, what is the perfect thing to get Dad? Answers. Specifically, answers to the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy. The government has 16,000 unredacted files it can give him pertaining to this, and we really wish they would. Frankly, we can only buy him so many little kitchen gadgets. Dads take all forms, as do the aforementioned dogs. For instance, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, is a dad. And his wife, Meghan? She is a dog. On Snapchat, at least. She caught Prince Harry’s eye through her use of the puppy dog filter, and who could have predicted it would threaten to topple the English empire? And we end with a gift for you. The gift of gossip, which keeps giving. You might remember the blog/brand/thing Something Navy from when its founder moved to the Hamptons while sick with Covid in March 2020 and neglected to self-quarantine. She has moved past that and onto allegations of embezzlement and divorce. Bless!

Broti Gupta is currently the first writer for The Simpsons to be younger than the show itself. Dylan Gelula is an actress whose credits include Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Shithouse, Support the Girls and most recently Apple’s Loot.

The two are best friends and hosts of Lecture Hall, which they have both repeatedly called “the worst podcast in the world.” Despite having been a guest on the show, I have no idea what it is supposed to be about.

Our dogs deserve the most luxurious Advent calendars available, because they’re our best friends and the only beings we speak to daily who haven’t committed at least a little unspeakable evil against someone else. However, a dog’s needs are simple. They don’t need dog La Mer, for example, because they will be effortlessly gorgeous until death. They don’t need dog Susanne Kaufmann or dog Diptyque. If I could have gotten (for free) an Advent calendar that was one monthly canine flea and tick preventative pill every day — pills I could have saved up for the coming two years — that would have been nice for me and would have saved me around $600, but I don’t think my dog would have cared much at all.
