Tim Ferriss - 5-Bullet Friday — December 9, 2022

Hi All!
Here is your weekly dose of 5-Bullet Friday, a list of what I’m pondering and exploring. Be sure to see the P.S. and P.P.S….
Series I’m watching
Goliath. I might be late to the party, but, man, this series is fantastic. The writing is great, the production value is high, and it checks a lot of boxes. Stars include Billy Bob Thornton, Nina Arianda, and Tania Raymonde (@taniaraymonde), among others. Here is the official description: “Once a powerful lawyer, Billy McBride is now burned out and washed up, spending more time in a bar than a courtroom. When he reluctantly agrees to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the biggest client of the massive law firm he helped create, Billy and his ragtag team uncover a vast and deadly conspiracy, pitting them all in a life or death trial against the ultimate Goliath.”
Articles I’m reading
“Tinder Experiments II: Guys, unless you are really hot you are probably better off not wasting your time on Tinder — a quantitative socio-economic study” Ruh roh! Special thanks to Andy D.
“How I Learned SQL in 4 Months Coming from a Non-Technical Background”
Songs I’m listening to
“Layla” (Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music) by Kalaban Coura, feat. Quentin Dujardin (@quentindujardinofficial)
“Masala” (Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music) by Jean du Voyage (@jeanduvoyagemusic), feat. Pierre Harmegnies
Podcast episode I’m listening to
“The Narrative Holy Trinity of World, Character, and Plot, with Fonda Lee.” You can listen with the embedded web player at that link, or you can find the transcript here.
Quote I’m pondering
“Creative people, as I see them, are distinguished by the fact that they can live with anxiety, even though a high price may be paid in terms of insecurity, sensitivity, and defenselessness for the gift of the ‘divine madness,’ to borrow the term used by the classical Greeks. They do not run away from non-being, but by encountering and wrestling with it, force it to produce being. They knock on silence for an answering music; they pursue meaninglessness until they can force it to mean.”
— Rollo May (via Cody Swift and Riverstyx Foundation)
You can complement this edition of 5-Bullet Friday with my in-depth interviews exploring the creative processes of comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld, master of memoir Mary Karr, and iconic nonfiction writer Michael Lewis.
Have a wonderful weekend, all.
Much love to you and yours,
Tim
P.S. Deal of the Week — Vuori Clothing!
Vuori is a new species of performance apparel. Their combination of comfort and durability is unmatched. Since the summer of 2020, I’ve practically lived in my Vuori gear, wearing at least one item per day. My favorite product is their Ponto Performance Pant, which I’m wearing as I type this. For women, the Performance Jogger is hugely popular. Everything is designed for maximum versatility so that you look and feel as good in everyday life as you do working out. Try it for yourself: get some of the most comfortable and versatile clothing on the planet at VuoriClothing.com/TimFerriss. As a 5-Bullet Friday subscriber, you’ll get a triple bonus: receive 20% off your first purchase, free shipping on any US orders over $75 for delivery by December 24th, and free returns. Take a look here: VuoriClothing.com/TimFerriss.
P.P.S.
In case you missed it, I’ve launched an entirely new podcast for the first time in many years, and it’s scripted fiction. The Legend of CØCKPUNCH™ debuted this week at #1 in “Fiction” on Apple Podcasts and has been in the Top 100 for all podcasts on Apple Podcasts (U.S. and other countries) all week. Even if you hate the name, I think most of you will enjoy the 50-second trailer. Please subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. This entire podcast (and more) is intended to add some laughter and levity to a world dominated by doomscrolling and pessimism. There are surprises ahead…
