Poem-a-Day - Where Poem-a-Day takes us each morning

Dear Reader,

I’m heartened each morning as I open my Poem-a-Day email, envisioning thousands of readers around the world simultaneously encountering a new poem. Together, through poetry, we discover, as Dorianne Laux described, “imaginative worlds for the heart and mind to dwell in.”

Today, I’m asking devoted Poem-a-Day readers like you to ensure that the shared experience of reading a newly published poem each morning remains free and accessible to a growing audience.

Please, if you’re able, make a special contribution to help underwrite this one-of-a-kind series. You make Poem-a-Day possible!

Poem-a-Day is the only daily series publishing new work by 260 poets each year—an anthology’s worth of poems now, incredibly, reaching a community of 320,000 subscribers.

This December, we need to raise $150,000 to sustain and grow Poem-a-Day in the year ahead. Your financial support is critical to our paying the poets published in Poem-a-Day and to produce and deliver their poems to readers free-of-charge.

Thank you for helping us share poems and for being a part of the Poem-a-Day community.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Tess O’Dwyer
Board Chair
Academy of American Poets
P.S. Please help make Poem-a-Day possible with a special gift this season of giving. In thanks for your end-of-year support of $50 or more, we’ll be delighted to send you our 2023 Poem-a-Day Wall Calendar, featuring the twelve poets who will serve as Guest Editors of the series next year.
