Microsoft changes tone on new Bing chatbot | Tech Moves

Microsoft said Wednesday that its new AI-powered Bing chatbot technology is “not a replacement or substitute for the search engine, rather a tool to better understand and make sense of the world.”
  • That’s a change in tone from the company’s messaging last week when it unveiled the tech, and follows several news reports highlighting queries that prompted wrong and sometimes even argumentative responses from the new Bing. Read more

Zillow Group is receiving four times as many applicants per job posting compared to 2019, thanks in part to its flexible work policy implemented in the early stages of the pandemic.

  • The Seattle-based company leaned into a work-from-home model early in the pandemic. That bet has paid off, according to CEO Rich Barton. Read more

  • Zillow reported its Q4 earnings Wednesday, beating expectations with $435 million in revenue. Barton said he’s optimistic about the outlook for 2023, but added “we aren’t out of the woods yet when it comes to the macro economy.” Read more.

Mobile gaming company Lightfox Games raised $6 million in fresh capital to help fuel development of a new game.

  • Founded in 2019 and led by former Z2 employees, Lightfox is the Seattle-based studio behind the 2021 mobile game "Knight’s Edge," (above) previously known as "Super Battle League." Read more
