The difficult thing about getting a job is that roles often get 100+ applicants, so you need to stand out. Here are 7 tips to increase your chances:

1. Keep your resume short: 2 pages max!
2. Tailor your resume & cover letter to the job: e.g. you can now use AI resume writing tools such as Rezi (Sponsor) to make this much easier.
3. Put your skills at the top of your resume: list the top 10 skills you have "above the fold". Hiring managers don't have time to read your 2k word resume - make it easy for them.
4. Use keywords: you may (or may not) know that companies use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to filter through applications, so make sure you use the "correct" keywords / phrases to describe your skills.
5. Show personality: avoid being bland. Whether that's in your resume design or in your "hobbies & interests" section, don't be afraid to use humour / quirkiness :)
6. Build a website / portfolio: don't just describe what you've worked on, show them.
7. Be personal: out of the thousands of companies in the world, what do you want to work at their company?
