🔍 Genius By Diagram & Ideas For Using It

Here’s why - they recently launched their demo video showcasing their AI design companion for Figma. As someone who keeps a constant eye on the latest and greatest in AI, this truly looks like a game changer.

**Notion AI is now open to all!**

This is crazy for two main reasons:

1. Notion AI is extremely useful, and this will supercharge an already valuable tool. (A trend I think will continue as more SaaS companies integrate AI into their existing tech stack).
2. Notion announced the waitlist for this tool back in November. Only three months from announcement to being fully deployed - a testament to the pace of the AI industry.

Facebook Introduces LLaMA

No, not the animal at your local zoo. It’s a foundational, 65-billion-parameter large language model. If you’re not 100% sure what that means don’t worry (you’re not alone). What we do know is that when Facebook makes an announcement, marketers should pay attention. From a macro level, look at this as Facebook throwing its hat into the AI race. Metaverse out, AI in? We’ll have to wait and see.

Runway ML Announces Gen-1

Runway ML is an AI video company I’ve had my eye on for a while. They’re making some big moves in the industry and in my humble opinion, aren’t getting the credit they deserve. Honestly, the tech is still relatively new, and it shows. BUT it’s incredible what they’ve accomplished with Gen-1, and it’s not hard to imagine how good this tech will get. Rather than talk about what it is, you should just click the link above and check out a few of their videos. Show, don’t tell, am I right?

Let me bring your attention to a new AI tool called Genius by Diagram.

Genius by Diagram is the latest announcement that deserves your full attention because it’s going to change the workflow at any company that works on UI/UX. This goes for companies that work on it directly (agencies designing for their clients) or indirectly (everyone’s got a website right?).

I saw a tweet I liked the other day that said, “ChatGPT, GitHub copilot, and Diagram as your founding team.”

This tweet stood out to me because it shows where all of this AI stuff is heading - building quickly at a fraction of the cost, which will result in the pace of things moving much faster. That’s why it’s so important to be a sponge of information about what’s happening in the AI space.

With that in mind, let’s brainstorm a few ways this new AI design tool is likely to change things for you as a marketer.

Here’s how I see it playing out.

As the UI/UX workflow gets supercharged by AI tools like Genius, the workflow will get shorter and cheaper. Imagine, as a marketer, being able to showcase the design of your app before it launches. A sneak peek or even a way to get advanced feedback.

The latter example is one that really excites me.

As a marketer, I love being able to test anything and everything. I know you do too.

Soon, it will be possible to mock up several high-res designs that you’ll be able to take to your audience for feedback and input before a single line of code is typed.

This will change the iteration process in a big way.

As marketers, we’ve all been in the meetings when launching a new website for a rebrand or new initiative, right?

Website projects are tricky. Everyone has ideas, the launch date is never far enough, and important things get lost in the mix.

Why does this happen?

Most of the time, it’s because we don’t do the prep work and just wing it for sake of time.

What’s the prep work? Mock-ups, lots of them. High-res, low-res, and everything in between. They’re important because they get everyone on the same page (yes, that was a subtle pun).

If everyone is looking at the same mock-up, then the information loss gets reduced. No more questioning what we said in the meeting last week about how the above-the-fold is going to look; it’s right there.

If it’s so important, why is it not done more? Time. Or the lack of, I should say.

Everyone knows they should make mock-ups at every step of the way, but that introduces another step in the workflow that just slows things down.

Think of a world where you don’t have to sacrifice a large chunk of time to implement this critical step.

Now, instead of a barely legible sketch on a whiteboard, you can present a fully fleshed-out high-fidelity render of exactly how you want it to look to your entire team in a fraction of the time.

Figma is great for websites and app mock-ups, but it can be used for so much more. I used to own a creative agency, and my design team used it for everything from social media posts to branding assets.

I wish Genius had been available when I was building my agency a few years ago.

One of the things that gave my agency a competitive advantage was our attention to detail. Everything was designed to the T. Even if we sent a simple google doc, we made an attempt to design well and brand. We called it elevating everything that goes out.

Figma was our main tool to do almost everything, and Genius would have sped everything up, reducing the amount of time my design team spent on all their tasks.

Think about it; every social media post could potentially have a bit of branding added to it. Every creative brief could be elevated by good design. All design decisions can be made in Figma.

We made the decision to create every presentation in Figma rather than just Google docs as a priority to have a better design. The amount of time Genius could have saved us on just this initiative alone would have been massive.

These are just a few of the many thoughts on how Genius could be implemented in the world of marketing. I have a whole page in my Notion dedicated to other ideas on just this topic. But I know with the advancements in AI, this tool will only become more integrated and useful in the near future.
