Dear Reader,

I debated with myself for weeks on whether to post this or not. It’s simple and silly, but I think it’s worth embracing silly sometimes. It came about one morning while I was putting on my shoes and realized that I always check to see if there are spiders (there’s precedence for this!). I said to myself, “I wish I knew if there was a spider in my shoe.” After that, I couldn’t get the rhyme out of my head. I hope you enjoy! ~ WM

If you only knew what lived in your shoe,
Dark and twisted, with a mission to pursue.
She crept inside in the dead of night,
Spinning webs until spun just right.

Fangs so sharp, venom potent,
Size off the chart, like a rodent.
You see, she’s salivating, hungry and waiting,
Excited to taste those toes she’ll be taking.

Oh, do not try to shake her out,
She’ll make you scream, she’ll make you shout.
She’s made her bed, and will defend it with glee,
That lair inside, where none can see.

So beware, my friend, when you slip your foot in,
You might just find a predator within.
If you're brave enough, and don't mind a scare,
Reach on in, if you dare.

For in the darkness, she rules supreme,
A queen of the shadows, the monster in your dreams.
Don't you ever underestimate her power,
Or you’ll face her wrath in the witching hour.
