Hey there,

When I talk to people about our work at The Lever, here is a question that sometimes comes up: Why does this journalism matter? Do we uncover corruption in our system simply so we can stare at the rot in horror? Do we just want you to be despondent at the wretched state of our politics?

These are valid questions, but the answer to those last two questions is a resounding no.

We uncover corruption so that matters can be made right. There is no way to fix a problem, after all, if that problem goes unseen. And since our system is in many ways designed to hide corruption, our brand of truly independent, investigative journalism is necessary.

Want to help us do this work? One thing you can do to get off the sidelines is to share the critical reporting that The Lever does, whether that be by forwarding emails to friends and family, or sharing on social media. Our reporting on corruption becomes more powerful as more people see it.

If you have any other questions or feedback for us at this point, don’t hesitate to email us at support@levernews.com. We’re here for our readers like you, and we can’t thank you enough for being a part of this endeavor.

Rock the boat,

Sirota
