MIDDI - Rinse and Repeat
In search of the finer things in life — because the finest ones still cost too much.
With spring just around the corner, another period of transition has begun. We move through each season of our lives bearing the lessons of those that came before, whether that season is an age, a place or an experience that’s come to pass. Here in England, the rain is picking up and the trees are starting to bloom, bringing with them whispers of changes to come. The three products featured this week will stay with you from season to season, no matter what the universe has in store. They can handle some wear and tear—helping you cut down on excess purchases and each saving the day in their own special way. Now if only we could skip the spring showers and get to the flowers … 1. Liz Earle Pure Cotton Cloths (2 for £5) I’m not a fan of physical exfoliants or makeup wipes. Both can be too harsh on the skin and leave residue behind. But when I wash my face at night, I want to make sure I get everything off. I’ve been using these muslin facecloths from Liz Earle daily since I first got one in a Birchbox almost six years ago. They’re soft but manage to pick up every trace of skincare, makeup and grime. My favorite way to use them is after massaging a cleansing milk (their amazing Cleanse & Polish™ is one of the OGs) into my dry skin and before I use my second cleanser of the night. 2. Hunter Commando Chelsea Boots (£120) When it comes to footwear, you simply can’t go wrong with a Chelsea boot. This classic style works with virtually any outfit, providing comfort and a bit of polish. While a leather pair is one to invest in, I also think a rubber set is also a worthwhile purchase for those days when the weather or terrain is less than pleasant. This vegan pair from Hunter, the British heritage brand founded in 1856 and famous for its Wellington boots, is 100% waterproof with a polyester lining and plenty of traction to prevent slipping. (Men’s available here.) 3. The White Company Glass Storage Jars (£25 and £30) While there are a lot of fun options for organizing clutter, simple is always timeless. And if you’ve visited any home my husband and I have shared in the past decade, you likely saw the same set of glass jars in our bathroom holding cotton balls, swabs and flossers we got as a wedding shower gift almost a decade ago. These jars from The White Company, the minimalist luxury lifestyle brand founded by Chrissie Rucker, are made from lead-free crystal and work just as well on your vanity or desk or in the kitchen.
