Poem-a-Day - Can we harness the unsayable?

Dear Reader,

“I didn’t sign up for anything limited when I chose poetry,” said U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón, April’s Poem-a-Day Guest Editor. “I signed up for something that is about trying, on some level, to harness the unsayable.”

It’s exactly that unique ability poets have—to offer insights in memorable language that helps us understand ourselves and our world—that keeps so many of us sharing in the experience of reading Poem-a-Day each morning.

As we launch National Poetry Month on Saturday, please join me in supporting this important series, which is the only publication of its kind, sharing new work by more than 250 of today’s talented poets each year.
Our contributions enable the Academy of American Poets to produce and deliver Poem-a-Day every morning to more than 300,000 subscribers for free. Our email platform, bandwidth, and honoraria to poets make this series nonetheless costly to produce.

Thank you for being a part of the Poem-a-Day community and for your meaningful support that keeps this series thriving.

Sincerely,
Tess O’Dwyer

P.S. This April, during National Poetry Month, we need to raise $125,000 to sustain and grow Poem-a-Day. For donors with a gift of $30 or more, we have set aside an exclusive, new blank notebook featuring a line by U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón. Make your contribution today to ensure you receive yours!
