Amazon employment fell in 33 states between December 2021 and January 2023, reflecting an unprecedented pullback in the company's fulfillment and delivery network, according to a new analysis by GeekWire of current and historical Amazon data

  • The company shed jobs in many of the states where it had been growing rapidly, including California, Texas, and Tennessee, the analysis shows.

  • The new numbers, which follow more than a decade of extraordinary growth, do not yet include the impact of the company’s 27,000 corporate and tech layoffs.
