I wish I sent the full AI prediction list at the beginning of the year.
Some of them had already happened and others are coming very close - as some of you who requested the full version have noticed.

We're in a pivotal time in history and I still come across people who don't even know what's happening. Tell your friends!

Thing 1 - AI generated song goes viral

The song is called Heart on My Sleeve and it sounds like a real collaboration between Drake and The Weeknd.

You can listen to it in this tweet:

I'm more of a fan of Drake's business and marketing skills than his music. So I'm not 100% ruling out this is a real song and it's all part of a clever marketing scheme.

However...

The clues point to an AI startup Laylo, whose CEO is a fan of Drake. I've seen demos of voice tech that can do this and separate demos of music generation. That was months ago.

It's not far-fetched to think Laylo was able to combine them into something that can sound epic. It's also in line with my 2023 predictions.

Thing 2 - Gaming and generative AI agents

Researchers from Stanford and Google created a Sims-like sandbox environment, with 25 AI agents.

Users can observe and intervene as agents they plan their days, share news, form relationships, and coordinate group activities.

What's the big deal, Z?

Yes, we've had Sims before. But this is different. The results are impressive with interesting emerging properties.
And you can read all of their conversations, and see what led to the outcomes.

Imagine playing a single-player game, where NPCs (non-playing characters) had real lives that you can get involved in. And the game would be different every time you play it.

The replayability of such games is through the roof, and the perceived value follows. You could have infinite endings, or even have neverending, story-based games.

They are coming!

Emerging social behaviors

By interacting with each other, generative agents in Smallville exchange information, form new relationships, and coordinate joint activities.

For instance, in a conversation between Sam and Tom at the grocery store, Sam tells Tom about his candidacy in the local election.

Later that day, after Sam left, Tom and John, who heard the news from another source, discuss Sam’s chances of winning the election.

Gradually, Sam’s candidacy becomes the talk of the town, with some supporting him and others remaining undecided.

I dabbled in artificial life simulations years ago and love seeing this.

If you expect to be spoonfed, you'll never develop the resilience, creativity, and problem-solving skills necessary for real mastery.

Living your own life requires embracing uncertainty, taking risks, and learning from your experiences.
