Microsoft earnings preview: Barring a big surprise, the sluggish economy will continue to take a toll on the tech giant’s overall growth in its fiscal third quarter financial report Tuesday. Any financial payoff from the company’s investment in OpenAI’s technologies could be years away. Read more.

Micro-fusion startup Avalanche Energy raised $40 million to develop its small-scale solution for fusion power. The Seattle-based company also said it reached a technology milestone, producing 200 kV of power with its second-generation device. Read more.

SniffSpot has gone to the dogs, er, the dogs have gone to SniffSpot. The startup, which launched out of Seattle four years ago as a marketplace for pet parents and homeowners, is now operating across 3,600 cities. GeekWire tested the service.
