Something waiting for absolutely everyone

Dear Reader,

One of the gifts of Poem-a-Day, with readers in all fifty states and around the world, is the reminder that, “Poetry matters because, in its clutches, there is something waiting for absolutely everyone,” as Academy Chancellor Patricia Smith said.

Perhaps, like me, you save the daily poems that offer a new idea or that ring especially true and share them with others, expanding the circle of readers brought together by this one-of-a-kind-series.

And, of course, another gift is that Poem-a-Day is available to all readers for free, thanks to the contributions of a devoted few. Please help us meet our National Poetry Month fundraising goal with a special, one-time contribution.
If each of our subscribers were to give just a dollar, we would double our goal for this National Poetry Month. Think about what an impact your support could have.

Readers like you, making gifts of all sizes, underwrite Poem-a-Day, enabling the Academy to send a new, never-before-published poem to more than 320,000 readers each morning and, importantly, to pay the Guest Editors and poets we feature.

Thank you for your support this April!

Gratefully,
Tess O’Dwyer
Chair | Board of Directors
Academy of American Poets

P.S. We set aside a donor-exclusive blank notebook for you, featuring lines by U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón. Be sure to make your gift of $30 or more before this campaign ends in order to claim yours!
