Hacker Noon - HackerNoon + Arweave to the Moon!

Hello HackerNoon-er, đź‘‹

In collaboration with
Arweave, we've established a robust system for Web3 backups of all HackerNoon stories. With HackerNoon's extensive publication history of over 1 billion words, every single story and word is now safeguarded on Arweave. This partnership guarantees HackerNoon and its contributing writers reliable Web3 backups for their entire collection of stories. Read more.

How do these Web3 Backups work?

The moment a HackerNoon story is published, it also gets backed up on Arweave, meaning HackerNoon stories will live even if HackerNoon dies. A version of trust but verify, as in, I believe HackerNoon will outlive me, but why not backup all the content on a public ledger just in case?

Note: to date, via writer dashboard, contributors can also download JSON, PDF, and audio versions of their stories.

A publishing platform’s ability to distribute is a function of it’s accessibility. That's why we automatically turn our text stories into audio story files, multi-lingual translations, terminal view, printer view, and now, a cryptographic text backup via digital signature on Arweave. It's our way of making sure your stories reach as many people as possible while keeping them safe and sound.

HackerNoon Raises $250k at $50M Valuation From Forward Research

Forward Research the leading R&D firm for the Arweave ecosystem, purchased 5,728 shares of HackerNoon common stock shares at $42.55 per share, a $50M pre-money valuation.

This is great news for our shareholders, who’ve previously purchased shares at the
2019 equity crowdfunding price of $8.20 and at the 2020 strategic investment price of $11.35, which was the last issuing of new HackerNoon shares. Read more.

More Web3 Integrations Already Live on HackerNoon

Before this partnership, we’ve built and integrated functions to further HackerNoon’s journey into the world of Web3, such as Signup/Login with Wallet, NFTs as Profile Photos and Story Embeds, Noonies Tech Awards NFT Badges, Crypto Data Price Pages, Web3 Writing Contests, Blockchain games rankings and Publishing More Web3.

One of the most important things we think Web3 can help us achieve is preservation. With our partnership with Arweave, and the other integrations, we are working to further decentralize the HackerNoon, making us a more community-driven, trustworthy and sustainable place to read, write, learn and publish.
