Andy McCune:
1. Created a simple app in a day.
2. Generated 350K downloads in 5 days virally.

How?

1. He noticed that this website - 2015bestnine.com - generated 1 million views a day at the end of 2015.
The idea was simple - create a collage of the top 9 photos from a user's Instagram account.
Then - add total amount of likes in 2015.
And - add "Created by [app name]" credits
When you share this collage - you launch a viral loop.

2. Andy created the same app but for 2016.

3. Called the app 'Top Nine for Instagram — Best Of 2016’ to hopefully rank #1 for “Best Nine.”

4. Paid $1,700 to influencers so that they created their collages using his app, shared to their followers and started the first viral wave.

5. The app went viral and generated 350K downloads in 5 days.
