This week’s issue features articles about Maestro best practices and using custom native code with Expo

Hello readers!

We've just returned from a busy, and exciting, week hosting Chain React 2023! There's a lot to cover about this amazing event, so we'll dive into the details in the next issue of the React Native Newsletter.

For those seeking access to videos of talks at the conference, they are available for viewing, sharing and discussing here.

One of our honored speakers at Chain React 2023 was Chiara Mooney, who gave a talk on Day 1 on this topic: "Building for Microsoft: stories from React Native Windows maintainers - An inside look at the journey and challenges of building and consuming React Native Windows by Microsoft developers". Well, Chiara Mooney was our guest on a recent episode of React Native Radio, talking about  how React Native for Windows is helping Microsoft build Microsoft Office.

There are two interesting Top Picks in today's issue about using Maestro for your E2E testing needs: Maestro Best Practices: Structuring your Test Suite and Efficient React Native UI Testing with Maestro and Ignite. The latest release of Ignite has support for Maestro baked in.

Finally, check out this article about using custom native code with an Expo-managed app using config plugins.

The latest React Native releases are:

Release 0.71.8
Pre-Release
0.72.0-RC.5 (Golden Release Candidate)

There's a lot more to discover in today's issue. Enjoy!
