The New York Times - The best electric toothbrush

I recently visited my dentist, a person I am ever-eager to make proud. Despite giving me mostly glowing feedback, he recommended I get an electric toothbrush.

I ordered our top pick, the Oral-B Pro 1000, and I couldn’t agree with our guide more. Sure, it’s loud. But it works great, and has made a difference even I, a non-dentist civilian, can notice. My teeth feel cleaner and smoother, sporting that just-left-the-dentist feeling—something I didn’t quite get with my manual toothbrush.

I like that it does a little extra buzzing every 30 seconds to remind you to move to a different quadrant of your mouth. And it issues a grand finale of extra buzzing once you’ve hit the recommended two-minute mark—imperative for the times I find myself distracted in a TikTok spiral.

Something I was obviously worried about: Would it be totally hideous on my counter? But I’ve found that I don’t have to store the brush on its corded charger all the time. I keep that tucked away and only charge it every 10 days or so. Standing alone in its sleek black colorway, the electric toothbrush looks surprisingly chic.
