Ron DeSantis’s plans for the southern border

• Monday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis released a plan to crack down on illegal immigration in his first major policy proposal of the 2024 presidential campaign. [Associated Press / Valerie Gonzalez and Steve Peoples]

Wagner mutiny threatens Putin’s power

• Monday, questions remained about Russia’s political stability after Wagner Group paramilitary forces marched toward Moscow in an extraordinary challenge to Russian President Vladimir Putin. [Vox / Ellen Ioanes]
• Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin said on Monday that he ordered the short-lived revolt after the Kremlin attacked his fighters and ordered them to join the Russian military. [Associated Press]
• The standoff is the culmination of a long-running dispute between Prigozhin and Russian defense officials over the direction of the war in Ukraine.
