My Top 3 is a weekly post where I count down three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re looking at my top three ice cream flavors.

When I was pregnant (and due at the height of the summer), I thought I would be eating ice cream by the pint every day. Weirdly, I mostly wanted crisp vegetables. I was disappointed in myself. Ice cream is delicious! It’s the perfect treat to keep in the freezer. It’s also one of my favorite ways to end an evening out. I love getting a scoop and then strolling down the street, peoplewatching as we enjoy our treat. We don’t have ice cream often but, when we do, I like to savor every bite.

When I treat myself to ice cream I prefer getting a scoop from a shop (shout out to the excellent Kilwins) or enjoy it straight from a carton. (Pint-sized cartons are best.) I like to slowly curl the ice cream away from the edge with my spoon. It’s always just a touched more melted there and, to me, that makes it feel more luscious. Then, depending on the flavor, I like to dig out a big mix-in.

While I enjoy many flavors of ice cream, I prefer my scoops in a cup. Cones - don’t get me wrong - are tasty, but I want to focus on the ice cream itself.
