My Top 3 is a weekly post where I count down three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re looking at my top three summer events.

It took longer than usual, but DC finally hit the depths of summer weather - 90+ degree days and ungodly humidity. Despite the temperature discomfort, I still love summer. Since I work in academia, I’m tied to a school calendar which means the nostalgic vibes of childhood summer vacation still hit me every year. Summer is for fun! Summer is for rest! Summer is for running around barefoot in the grass and eating popsicles until they drip down your arm.

While I avoid sticky messes these days, I still seek out the vacation vibe of summer. Having a kiddo has changed some things, but only in the sense that I now want to give her the chance to experience what I loved growing up. (Just with better bug spray.) It’s fun to see her catch on to all the things we can do in summer. It’s not truly the hot season unless I check off these fun items on my to do list.
