We all complain about the weather no matter what. In the depths of winter, we’re praying for summer’s heat and once it arrives we whine about getting sweaty. The only way to win is to be prepared.

This week’s three products are great for warmer climates, whether you enjoy them year-round or wait patiently for the annual thaw-out to arrive. They’re all highly functional so you can forget about them and go about your day feeling more comfortable as the temperatures rise.

1. PIXI H2O SkinTint (£24)

I was first drawn to Pixi Beauty (previously featured here) because of its founder, Petra Strand. When you grow up in America with my first name, you don’t expect to see it in many places. I love this light, fragrance-free foundation because it blends easily, provides just enough coverage and, even though it’s a gel, it doesn’t pill on top of sunscreen. I can wear it comfortably on hot days without worrying about my face looking like it’s melting off or my pores getting clogged. It’s also a solid dupe for a very pricey department store foundation (more on that coming soon).

2. Lululemon Women's Fast and Free Running Hat (£35)

Between London’s frequent rain showers and Scoop’s early morning walks, I like having a hat at the ready. This one from Lululemon is great no matter what the weather thanks to its lightweight fabric that drys quickly and keeps you feeling cool while shielding your face from the sun’s rays. It can accommodate a ponytail and also folds up nicely for storage, making it an ideal pick for your beach bag. The camouflage color is sadly no longer available, but I’m planning to pick up one of their solid shades to add to my rotation very soon.

3. Izabela Peters Outdoor Garden Waterproof Cushions (£18.99 and up)

Now that we have a terrace, I’ve been given a new decorating challenge. After selecting our outdoor furniture, I knew I wanted some soft furnishings that would look good and hold up well. Izabela Peters’ outdoor cushions add a punch of color to your space that can also withstand the elements. Designed in The Lake District and manufactured in Manchester, they’re waterproof and easy to mix and match to suit your style and surroundings. I ended up purchasing one toucan cushion and one flamingo for our sun loungers.

How to Shop for … Swimwear

The Sunday Suit from Left On Friday is the best one-piece I’ve found that hugs my curves, gives moderate support and covers what I don’t feel like showing.

If you’re still on the hunt for a swimsuit you’ll want to wear summer after summer, here are some tips:

1. Think about how you’re most likely to use your suit, whether it’s for lounging by the pool or for surfing waves and swimming laps.

2. Decide how much coverage and support you want so it’s comfortable to wear and functional for your desired activities.

3. Choose a fabric that is suitable for chlorine and saltwater as well as different temperatures to ensure it keeps its shape. I prefer suits with some compression.

4. Take your measurements to get the best fit, paying particular attention to the length of your torso when looking for a one-piece.

5. Check the care instructions to preserve the color and fit and remember, there’s no such thing as a “summer body.”
