As your days of “working” poolside may be fading into the rearview, a few small upgrades to your work gear can ease the transition from vacation mode to okay-fine-it’s-almost-fall mode.

Here on the Newsletters team, we each have our own piece of home office gear that helps us cope. For me, it’s the Logitech MX Keys Mini for Mac, one of Wirecutter’s favorite Bluetooth keyboards. It’s small enough to stuff in my tote when I’m drawn to work from a coffee shop. And I like that the keys backlight on a motion sensor, so when inspiration strikes and my hands begin to hover over it, my keyboard seems to talk back to me with light like, “Let’s do this.”

Sofia Sokolove likes her Purple Double Seat Cushion, which transforms her trendy Cesca dining chair (the envy of our Zoom calls) into a comfortable, ergonomic office seat. When it’s time for an at-home happy hour, she can easily tuck the cushion away. And Brittney Ho relies on the ease of her Rain Design iLevel2 laptop stand when her workstation is disturbed by her cat, Zara, who loves to step on the keys. She just raises her laptop a little—much to the chagrin of Zara, whose goal is, of course, always to invoke chaos.

While your Zoom background might soon change to something a bit less balmy, giving your workspace a little bit of love might at least help you log on in higher spirits.
