Amazon and Shopify make nice: The Seattle-based e-commerce giant announced plans to make its “Buy With Prime” program available natively to merchants on Shopify’s platform. 
  • The deal is a win for Amazon in its efforts to expand its reach beyond its own e-commerce site. For Prime members, this will mean a more consistent checkout and delivery experience across a greater number of shopping sites.

  • However, Shopify won a key concession. Although Amazon Prime members who buy an item on a Shopify site will be able to use a payment method from their Amazon wallets, Shopify will process the payments through its checkout system.

  • The news comes a year after Shopify warned merchants that integrating the Amazon program would violate its terms of service and create a security risk. Read more.

Microsoft unbundling Teams in Europe: The communication and collaboration software will no longer be included in Microsoft 365 and Office 365 for Microsoft’s primary business customers in the European Economic Area and Switzerland as the tech giant looks to appease antitrust regulators. Read more.

Ada Developers Academy “significantly” reduced its headcount with a new round of layoffs following the recent resignation of the nonprofit’s CEO. Admissions are paused at the boot camp for underrepresented individuals in tech, and an interim CEO has been appointed. Read more.

Startup cleans up with $1.4M for shampoo formula: Seattle-based Sironix Renewables has developed a suite of chemicals using soybeans to make shampoo foamy and to lift oily stains out of fabrics. Read more.

  • As part of a spending package aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions in Washington state, a new program will provide rebates and vouchers for electric-bike buyers. (The Seattle Times)
