MIDDI - Good as Gold
In search of the finer things in life — because the finest ones still cost too much.Gold has long been synonymous with luxury. It makes whatever it touches a bit more special, adding an opulent glow. Thankfully, there are now plenty of ways to make your routine more golden at a more reasonable price point. The three products featured in this week’s edition are all dazzling in their own way. Bring them out when you want to elevate the everyday and keep them around for any time that calls for some sparkle. Go for the gold. 1. PETITFEE Gold Hydrogel Eye Patches (£10.56) Eye patches are not a part of my daily skincare routine, but when I do use them, I like them to be extra, well, extra. These hydrogel patches from K-beauty brand PETITFEE contain a blend of plumping, nourishing ingredients that includes ginseng, collagen, swallow’s nest and rose flower water in addition to 24k gold. These soothing patches are an excellent way to perk up your peepers and give yourself some pampering. They can also be used on other parts of the face, like the forehead, to smooth fine lines and hydrate the skin. 2. Mejuri Tube Huggie Hoops (£48) I used to have several ear piercings. I got them at various ages and places, ranging from the salon inside our local JCPenney department store to a recliner in a coworker’s living room (sorry, mom and dad). These days, I prefer a simpler look, which is Mejuri’s specialty. These small hoops are made from sterling silver and coated in solid 18k gold vermeil. They snap closed to keep them in place and work just as well on their own or in combination with studs of another style. Keep scrolling for my tips on shopping for demi-fine jewelry. 3. West Elm Foundations Brass Vases (£14 to £36) Brass accessories can give you that luxe gold look without costing a fortune. And it just so happens, these brass vases from West Elm are currently on sale in a variety of sizes and shapes. Made from stainless steel, they’re lightweight and easy to incorporate into different styles of home decor. I’ve mainly used mine as an ornament on my mantle, but it would make a stunning centerpiece for a dining table. Brass also mixes well with other materials like marble and wood as part of a vignette on a shelf or console table. How to Shop for … Demi-Fine Jewelry Minimalist jewelry has been a key element of my personal style for a while now. I am, after all, a millennial still recovering from nearly a decade of donning heavy statement necklaces and chandelier earrings. A more economical way to expand your collection is to go for demi-fine jewelry. Here are some things to keep in mind when shopping:
