Good morning, GeekWire readers. Amazon’s Project Kuiper prototype satellites are performing as planned in space; Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena notches a green milestone; layoffs hit Microsoft-owned LinkedIn, and logistics giant Flexport is making cuts at its Bellevue, Wash., hub.

Flexport layoffs hit Bellevue office: The cuts at logistics giant Flexport impacted 165 employees in the Seattle area, according to a new filing. The company told GeekWire it plans to maintain the Bellevue hub. Other logistics startups, including Seattle-based Flexe and Convoy, have also trimmed their workforces over the past year amid a freight market slowdown. Read more

Project Kuiper test satellites “stable in orbit”: After a successful launch on Friday, two prototype satellites are already collecting important data on a mission to test hardware and software as part of Amazon’s space program to expand broadband internet access. Read more.

LinkedIn layoffs: The Microsoft-owned platform is cutting about 558 roles. It’s the company’s second layoff this year. The Verge notes that LinkedIn is still growing, and a Financial Times story this past weekend highlights how leaders and influencers are flocking to the platform. 


Climate Pledge Arena earns unique distinction:
The arena, named after Amazon’s climate initiative, achieved “Zero Carbon Certification,” given to buildings that are energy efficient and demonstrate reduction in carbon footprint. It’s the first arena in the world to get the certification. Read more.
