Poem-a-Day - Poetry empowers our community

Dear Reader,

As we gather in poems every morning, I am reminded of what U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón says: “Poetry has the power to reconnect us with ourselves, and has the power to reconnect ourselves with the earth.”

At the Academy of American Poets, we work hard to make space for active listening, putting into motion the language of compassion. As a nonprofit, we can only do so with your partnership.

Please take a moment today to support and keep our many poetry publications and programs accessible to a growing community of readers.

Your support enables us to publish poems for the increasing number of readers who are turning to poetry for joy, solace, connection, a morning meditation, and so much more. Help us raise at least $150,000 this month to sustain and grow our offerings in the new year.

Poems ask for our undivided attention and encourage a depth of thinking that connects us to each other and the world. Thank you for helping us share the gift of poetry with more readers every day.

With hope,

Ricardo Alberto Maldonado
President and Executive Director
Academy of American Poets
P.S. In appreciation for all gifts over $50, we are excited to send you a set of twelve poetry prints featuring our 2024 Poem-a-Day Guest Editors. Thank you for making a gift today to sustain our programs and publications!
