The Empress Needs the Same Love and Nurturing That She Gives YouBut sadly, she is not always so appreciated.Being a mom or being the mother figure is one of the most badass jobs ever, and that is the Empress! The Empress card of the Major Arcana in the tarot has been assigned to be the card that represents feminine energy and anything maternal. This card can also mean creating art and even establishing a new business, as Venus is associated with this card. It makes sense since Venus is associated with love, beauty, and maternal energy. Another thing to be said about this card is that it represents nurturing because creating anything needs to be enabled to be sustained. Additionally, Empress is about creativity. Nurturing a family and a new business must be done. This card can be relevant to starting a new art-related project like painting. Therefore, if you want to start a new creative venture and this card comes up, that shows a good chance it will happen. You have to nurture whatever you create to sustain it. This card will also come up if you are thinking of starting a family, as it is the card that represents motherhood, after all. She represents Mother Earth's fertility and abundance and how it's transferred to you when you use your inner resources properly. When you utilize these powers, she gives you nurturing, comfort, warmth, and security. The Empress Has So Many Nurturing Messages to Ensure Your Well-BeingThink about the Fool’s journey, as the Fool began starting the journey and encountered the Magician mentoring the Fool about how powerful their thoughts are. Then, the Fool encountered the High Priestess, who mentored them to pay attention to their feelings and intuition. Now, the Fool meets the Empress, who has loving and nurturing messages. You are the Fool. Therefore, the Empress tarot card shows you that your intuition is strong enough to make wise decisions by trusting your knowledge. It teaches you that quieting overactive minds can be accomplished with meditation or relaxation techniques - or even taking a break from trying to figure everything out all at once! When this card appears in readings, it's almost always about your home life, family, love relationships, and other nurturing situations. The Empress card reminds you how important it is to do what feels suitable for yourself without worrying about others' thoughts because, hey, screw what others think. Your inner wisdom will guide you toward true happiness while giving you many opportunities for growth and new experiences. If you've been feeling off-track lately, this card may tell you to reevaluate your focus because it's not showing you the best path. When this card is in a reading, it's time to slow down and take a break if needed - but also look deep within yourself for guidance! The Empress card reminds you that you have all the power within yourself to succeed or fail. Therefore, you must listen carefully to your inner voices to manifest the right actions at opportune times. She also reminds you to be true to yourself. The Empress card can show up when asking about love life readings because she always encourages people to stay true to themselves when balancing work and play in their love lives. If your Empress tarot cards ask whether it's a good time for you to socialize more, go out on more dates, and so on - the Empress is telling you that your self-esteem will be at its highest when you're enjoying yourself in your private time away from work. The Empress card has a lot of different meanings when she shows up in readings, but one thing is for sure: she always provides the motivation you need to search deep within yourself for guidance! The Empress is a mother, after all, and one who gives a crap about you. It Is Easy to Take the Empress for GrantedYou know that the Empress represents motherhood, creativity, and any nurturing, and when you go out of your way to be a creator or a maternal figure, whether you are biologically a mom or not, sadly, so many of those who you want to nurture don't give a crap about your efforts and energy and take you for granted. Are you a mother who goes out of her way to ensure her kid's needs are met with love and nurturing while managing work and home responsibilities and making sure that the needs of others around you are met, too? If that is the case, there is a high chance that those you care for take you for granted. When you care for young kids (or kids with significant special needs), it is the most challenging job ever. Still, since there is only so much they can appreciate, you don't expect them to thank you or "repay" you somehow if you have had to spend all night with them if they were sick and have to do an extra load of laundry. However, if you have a partner who is doing jack and they expect you to take care of them just as much as your kids, no matter how exhausted you are, then you will feel resentful, and rightfully so. If you are a stay-at-home or a working mom, you will often feel the sting of your partner taking you for granted. If you are a stay-at-home and have to spend energy and time taking your kids out to keep them busy while having to clean, do laundry, cook, and whatever chores you need to do, it is infuriating when your partner comes back from work and wants to call it a day. Your partner expects you to have dinner at a specific time, and you are expected to clean up after them while they expect you to take care of the kids for the rest of the night, even though you have done so all day. They think they are pulling in the income, so the least you can do is do the dirty work with the kids and the home, so they don't care about your efforts and energy expenditure. When you are a working mom, you may get the same shitty treatment from your partner, too, whereas you are adding to the household income on top of caring for the kids. They take your efforts for granted, and that will piss off the Empress. And when the Empress is pissed, it can be ugly. She will be resentful that all of her efforts are taken for granted. Single moms feel it even more because not only do they have to do everything solo, but their so-called friends and family often don't appreciate the work they put in and have unfair expectations from them anyway. Think about the single mom working with her kid all night trying to help them with their math homework, and then her neighbor suddenly expects a favor from her. When she says no because she is exhausted from helping her kid all night, the neighbor doesn't care and invalidates her exhaustion. That will piss this mom off. Unfortunately, as the kids get older and become more aware of their moms' taking them for granted, their moms will resent them for it, too. Sadly, they may never understand the sacrifices, work, and effort their moms make out of love until they have their kids - then they will get it. I am not talking about abusive mothers who drive their kids away. I am talking about the loving mothers whom the Empress represents. By the way, I want to mention that the Empress also represents the dads who take on the role of a mom! Let's also think of Mother Earth as the Empress. Mother Earth has fertile soil to grow food and cotton for clothing, furniture, and anything else you need. It has water, which is necessary for life, and minerals and materials for items you need. But thanks to everyone taking her for granted and abusing her, she is getting pissed off, and that is why weird weather is happening. Tornados and hurricanes are happening in places that generally don't experience it. More drought is threatening crops, which harms the food supply. The Empress also represents artists and creators. And they are often being taken for granted for their brilliant work. Creators and artists also want to nurture you by providing you with something entertaining or fulfilling something else you need, but then you turn your back on them and don't show appreciation for their hard work. What happens then? They lose interest and eventually stop creating. The point is, if you keep taking advantage of the Empress, she will get fed up and stop nurturing you. Show the Empress the love and appreciation she needs for everything she provides you! What Other Tarot Cards Are Esoterically Related to the Empress?Venus is associated with the Empress, which is also associated with the Hierophant, as planet rules Taurus, and Libra rules Justice. Venus rules both of those signs. Taurus is the time in the Northern Hemisphere when the ground is fertile, as the Sabbat Beltane represents the fertile Taurus season, which is also linked to what the Empress represents. She represents the fall harvest, linked to Libra and Justice. She is the great balancer, balancing beginnings and endings to create beauty and maintain the planet's rhythm. Venus also rules five Minor Arcana cards, which have an indirect relation to the Empress. Venus in Aries, associated with the Four of Wands, is all about peace, stability, and celebrations. Even though Venus is in its detriment, this is one of the cards that represents peace. Of course, the Empress is indirectly linked to the Two of Cups, as it is associated with Venus in Cancer. This card represents the emotional, nurturing, loving, and affectionate tie between two people in a relationship. Then there is the Nine of Pentacles, associated with Venus in Virgo, about abundance and reaping the rewards. However, since Venus is fall in Virgo, this card can indicate that you could be prone to getting into the perfectionism trap, which mothers are known to do. There is also the Seven of Cups, and Venus is in Scorpio, as this card represents being attracted to so many things that appear magnetic and beautiful, which is why this card represents having too many appealing options being presented to you. But since Venus is in its detriment, this card can also represent escapism, living in a fantasy world, which can be a slippery slope to addiction. Let's not forget about the Five of Swords, represented by Venus in Aquarius, as this card easily shows what happens to the Empress when others don't appreciate her efforts, as she feels defeated. The Empress is also present in Five, Six, and Seven of Pentacles as they are Taurus-ruled cards. The Five of Pentacles is all about physical loss and having to recover those losses, which the Empress would do by being creative. The Six of Pentacles is about giving (but also receiving). She does so much for you and makes sacrifices for you, but she will only keep doing it willingly if you give back, even if it means acknowledging her love and kindness. The Seven of Pentacles is all about slow growth and investment and is also a card representing pregnancy. Finally, Libra rules the Two, Three, and Four of Swords. That means the Empress has an indirect connection to them. She balances the mind in the Two of Swords, acknowledges and validates your pain and heartache in the Three of Swords, and encourages you to rest and recover in the Four of Swords. The next card to examine is the Emperor. I will give you free content going forward as I have an exciting announcement after the New Year.
