Every day, we find each other—through poetry

Dear Reader,

There’s nothing like Poem-a-Day, which celebrates what Academy Chancellor Dorianne Laux says asks us to look at “what our best possible situation could be, so that we have an actual visual or aural representation of what we can work toward.” Poems prompt us to reflect on fundamental questions, helping us understand ourselves, one another, and our world.

Poem-a-Day offers this every day—from 260 new poems by today’s poets to the more than 100 poems we present on the weekends, reintroducing poets from the past. And we’re able to do so only because of your partnership. Please, if you’re able, take a moment now to support this special series in 2024.

With exclusive insights and a reading by the featured poet, information about the poet’s background and publications, recommended further reading, and historical context, Poem-a-Day offers a unique way to deepen our connection to poetry and its power.

While Poem-a-Day is free-of-charge, it’s not free to produce. To pay the featured Guest Editors and poets, and to underwrite production and distribution costs, we rely on gifts from devoted poetry readers like you.

I hope you take heart in being a part of a vibrant community of readers. And I thank you in advance for your contribution towards a new year of Poem-a-Day.

Sincerely,

Ricardo Alberto Maldonado
